When you want to seal stone without over-spending, this is the sealer for you. Tile Guard Natural Stone Penetrating Sealer maintains the natural look of tile by not imparting a shine. This protects grout, porous stone and tile against stains from water and oil-based liquids.
- Apply a small amount in an inconspicuous area to ensure compatibility with surface to be treated, and to confirm satisfactory results. Wait for 24 hours to determine suitability.
- Read all directions and warning on package before using.
- Be sure grout is dry before sealing; wait 48 hours after grouting to seal.
- Ensure surface is clean and dry; existing sealers and coatings should be removed prior to coating.
- Apply 1 to 3 coats of Tile Guard® Penetrating Sealer. Use specific tools; for smooth stone or tile; dense sponge applicator or paint pad; for rough stone or rile, sprayer or brush. Wipe up excess sealer where pools remain.
- Completely wipe surface dry, 3 to 5 minutes after each coat is applied.
- Allow 1 hour drying time between coats.
- After 2 hours, conduct a test to determine if surface is completely sealed by applying water droplets to the surface. If water is absorbed, apply an additional coat, wait 2 hours and repeat test.
- Surface is ready for traffic in 2 hours. Keep area dry for at least 12 hours; cures completely in 24 hours.
- Clean applicators with water after each use.
Coverage - Approximately 300 to 1,000 sq. ft. per coat per gallon, depending on type of tile and its porosity and texture, temperature, humidity and method of application.
Expected Wear - Up to 5 years depending upon various factors; surface porosity, surface wear, harsh cleaning methods such as high-alkaline or solvent-based cleaners, and frequency and type of maintenance products.
- Test for water absorption periodically and reseal when water starts to absorb.
Maintenance Suggested - Always use products made for cleaning your specific surfaces.
- Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaning agents on treated surfaces, as this may shorten the life of the seal.
- We recommend using Tile Guard® products formulated for your flooring surface.
