Many grout sealers require you to wait for weeks before sealing. This is a scary thought if your two year old has access to the unsealed grout.

Tile Guard® Penetrating Grout Sealer can be applied 48 hours after grouting. It allows moisture to escape while the grout is cure curing. It provides protection to the grout from stains from water and oil-based liquids.

When the sealer penetrates into grout, you can be confident spilled liquids will wipe up easily because they won’t be able to seep deep into the grout.

Not to be used on food preparation surfaces.

  1. Read all directions and warnings on package before using.
  2. Be sure grout is dry before sealing: wait 48 hours after grouting to seal.
  3. Ensure that surface is clean by using a neutral pH cleaner and then allow to dry. Existing sealers and coatings should be removed prior to coating.
  4. Shake well.
  5. Apply 1 to 3 coats of Tile Guard Penetrating Grout Sealer. Apply with a foam paint brush or grout sealer applicator. Wipe up excess sealer where pools remain. Do not allow product to dry on surface. Do not use a sprayer to apply.
  6. Apply each successive coat while sealer is still damp or about 5-10 minutes after previous coat.
  7. 5-10 minutes after last application, wipe all sealer from the surfaces of tile and stones, not allowing it to dry on them.
  8. After 2 hours, conduct a test to determine if surface is completely sealed by applying water droplets to the surface. If water is absorbed, apply an additional coat; wait 2 hours and repeat test.
  9. Surface is ready for traffic in 2 hours. Keep area dry for at least 12 hours; cures completely in 24 hours.
  10. Clean applicators with water after each use.

Coverage:

  • Approximately 50 to 150 sq. ft. per pint for one coat, depending on porosity, texture, temperature, humidity and method of application.
  • Apply a small amount in an inconspicuous area to assure compatibility with surface to be treated, and to confirm satisfactory results. Wait a minimum of 24 hours to determine suitability.

Expected Wear:

  • Up to two years depending upon various factors: surface porosity, surface wear, harsh cleaning methods such as high-alkaline or solvent-based cleaners, and frequency and type of maintenance products.
  • Test for water absorption periodically and reseal when water starts to absorb.
  • For best protection, reseal annually to be certain your protection is at its best.

Maintenance Suggested:

  • Always use products made for cleaning your specific surfaces. Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaning agents on treated surfaces, as this may shorten the life of the seal. We recommend using Tile Guard® products formulated for your flooring surface.

Limitations:

  • Surface temperature should be between 50°F and 80°F when sealer is applied. Sealer should not have contact with any non-recommended surface, (if this happens and sealer dries to create a white film, scrub surface with water and a white nylon pad).

For use on these surfaces:

  • Sanded and un-sanded grout with natural stone, masonry and tile surfaces.

  • Penetrating sealer protects against moisture and stains
  • Seals out water
  • Forms a physical barrier to resist mildew stains
  • Protects again stains from water and oil-based liquids
  • Can be used 2 days after grouting

  • Not to be used on food preparation surfaces.
  • May cause eye and skin irritation.
  • Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
