Marble Care - Overview
It’s easy to see why marble has remained a constant favorite for centuries. Primarily one color, veins of other hues add a complexity that makes marble so distinctive.
A metamorphic stone, marble originates from limestone. When limestone is exposed to natural heat and pressure from the earth, softens and re-crystallizes into marble.
Originating from mostly calcium and dolomite, marble is very sensitive to both acid and alkali cleaners. It is extremely important to use the correct cleaning solution on marble and not use a generic household cleaner.
Sealing marble is crucial as soon as it’s installed to avoid permanent stains from penetrating the stone. In addition to providing the appropriate cleaners, Tile Guard® has restoration products to minimize glass rings, surface scratches, dull spots and shower wall streaks.
